For the last 3 years the NT government has been granting $5,000 exGST for home and business owners to install solar batteries, the initiative has now doubled and then some, coming to a total value of $12,000 exGST towards the cost of your solar batteries. How much do I actually get from the grant?
Old grant max:
$5,500 incGST
New grant max:
$13,200 incGST
Calculating the scaling battery grant
The grant amount isn’t a flat rate you get towards your solar battery system, it scales with the size of your battery system at $400 per kilowatt hour (kWh). Our battery systems are modular and expandable to meet your property needs, see image below
The modularity of Sungrow batteries allow customers to increase or decrease the storage to meet their specific needs, this can be done on initial installation or later on when your power consumption increases.
How to calculate the NT battery rebate
The battery rebate awards $400 exGST per kWh up to a maximum of $12,000 (exGST).
This means if you were to install a 12.8kWh battery package system you would be eligible for $5,120 exGST off the price of your solar package. This means the maximum battery size you can install to get the most from the battery rebate is 30kWh.
The sungrow batteries are in 3.2kWh modules so you could install 9 modules to maximise the rebate.
